Five Reasons Why Mercury Should Be On Your Android Device

With apps such as YouTube, Newsstand, Gmail, Amazon and the ever-so-popular Google Now Cards, there is hardly any reason to open the Internet Browser nowadays. There are, however, certain instances that do require the use of a good IE app, and never has one been as good as Mercury for Android devices. Previously exclusive to Apple's ecosystem, it has now become available on the Google Play Store for everyone to enjoy. But why choose Mercury when there are already so many good IE apps in the store? Well, here are five reasons why Mercury should be on your android device:

Reason #1: Mercury Connect

With everything in the cloud, it would only make sense to have a browser that is capable of taking advantage of the many services out there, such as Box, Dropbox, OneDrive and Drive. By signing with your respective account, you gain the ability to access and save files directly to your cloud storage via Mercury's own file manager.

Furthermore, by signing-in with your Facebook or Google account, Mercury automatically saves your preferences and bookmarks... where else.. in the cloud. :)

Reason #2: Plugins

Type in the address of a website and you are immediately greeted by intrusive ads, banners and even pop-ins. It is what the Internet has become. With its built-in ad block, Mercury can efficiently stop all of these pesky intrusion. Of course, ad block can be turned off if you wish to support a particular website.

Other plugins are available in the form of a very useful Reader mode, as is the ability to easily share your content on your favourite social networks, as well as view pics and listen to music.

Reason #3: Gestures

The greatest feature about touch screens is that they allow users to tap directly on an element of interest without the need of any peripherals. Mercury introduces context sensitive gestures, such as Two Finger Swipe Left to go to the next tab, or Two Finger Tap On Top to go to the top of the page, or Three Finger Tap to close a tab.

Reason #4: Fast and Reliable

An Internet Browser is only as good as its loading and rendering speed, a task performed by Mercury with great aplomb. Websites load quickly, especially when there are no ads that take up extra time, embedded video stream fluidly and everything is generally quick to respond. Unfortunately, I have encountered a recurring issue that forces the app to start in portrait mode when running on a tablet. This can be circumvented by locking the rotation, but it is still quite bothersome at times. Hopefully, a future update will remedy this issue.

Reason #5: A Plethora of Customisation Options

Mercury has enough options to really make it your own. You can change the theme, change the user agent to emulate a desktop experience or an Apple device, add shortcuts, add articles, add links, remove them all and replace them with others, browse inconspicuously and so much more. It really is a

So there you have it: Five Reasons Why Mercury Should Be On Your Android Device. Of course, there are many browsers on the Play Store, and they are all worthy of your attention, but Mercury really stands out as one of the best.

Because and Reason: Two Estranged Brothers

The reason our economy is doing poorly is because people spend more money than they earn.

How many times have you come across similarly structured sentences? Did something seem off when you read it? Well, there is a reason for this. :)
Even though some people use reason and because together, it should be noted that these two words are in fact synonyms.
Because can be interchanged with for the reason that. Using both words to explain something makes it sound redundant.
Going back to our first sentence, the best way to write it would be:

Our economy is doing poorly for the reason that people spend more money than they earn.
The reason our economy is doing poorly is that people spend more money than they earn.
You could also write it this way:
Our economy is doing poorly because people spend more money than they earn.

Climate Change

There is absolutely no doubt that we have reached a collective turning point in history. What we do from now on will not only affect our lives but that of the entire planet. We all need to set aside our petty differences and work as one body so that our children's children will have a future.
We can no longer ignore what has been scientifically proven: Earth is in grave danger, and with it, all living creatures that inhabit it. Even if we were to dismiss the experts, we cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening right in front of us, in the form of hurricanes, heat waves, droughts and various other severe weather phenomena that have significant environmental, agricultural, health, economic and social consequences on all of us.
We need to act, and we need to do so now before it is too late.

Middle Manager of Justice

The only free-to-play game that does not require real cash

The problem with free-to-play games is that they often become impossible to complete without the need of having to spend real money. Middle Manager of Justice circumvents this issue by providing players with enough resources that progression remains natural all throughout the game. But what is Middle Manager of Justice anyway? Well, just as the title suggests, it is a manager game that has you improving a corporate branch dedicated to serving and protecting the innocent from those who would harm them. You improve the branch by purchasing offices, different pieces of equipment, upgrades, and most importantly by recruiting heroes. These Justice Fighters have sworn to protect the innocent and it is up to you to make good use of their abilities. Middle Manager of Justice simply oozes with personality, from the awesome character animations to the funny and witty dialogue; it is simply a joy to play. Sure, there is some waiting to be done, but it never gets boring. Watching your heroes either relaxing in front of the TV or training at the gym is a treat all on its own. Install this if you have not done so already. This game really deserves a 5 out of 5.

Middle Manager of Justice is currently available for download on the Google Play Store.

5 Tips That Will Help Improve Your Swing Copters High-Score

1. Keep Your Eyes Peeled

Much like the protagonist of Swing Copters, it is important to keep your eyes open really wide while playing to maximize your chances of effectively passing each pair of hammers and thus gaining a point. Sure, not everyone has prodigiously big eyes, so just try to stay focused on the action, without letting anything distract you.

2. Tap With A Purpose

Your very first experience with Swing Copters will have you tapping your screen erratically. Stop. Restart. Every tap must matter. Remember that incongruous taps will never amount to anything, except frustration. Get a feel for the game. The little brown creature has a tendency to fly in a zig-zag pattern. Do not worry about the swinging hammers. Just try to keep the little fella flying straight up. Eventually, you will get into the swing of things.

3. Swing Widely

But not too widely. Learning when not to tap is just as important as actually tapping. Keeping the big-eyed fella in a straight line is a challenge all unto itself, but the position of the hammers and that of the beams from which they swing will constantly force you to make some intrepid manoeuvres. Sooner or later you will have to give him some leeway to go either left and right and avoid the incoming obstacles. This technique is the hardest to learn, but not impossible.

4. Take A break

Swing Copters was designed to be played in short bursts. If you feel tired or impatient, it is recommended to simply stop playing. Take a break and return when your are feeling better.

5. Have Fun

The ultimate goal of Swing Copers isn't so much as to have a high-score as it is to have fun. If you are not having any fun, then it is not worth playing it. Just embrace the game for what it is: a cute little mobile game meant to make you forget about your daily stress. Once you understand this, then will be tapping away with a smile on your face. :)

Swing Copters

Swing Copters perfectly adheres to the old adage, 'easy to learn, but difficult to master.' Playing Swing Copters is as easy as tapping the screen of your phone or tablet, but if you actually want to pass through the swinging hammers of doom, then you are going to have to learn a few techniques, such as when to tap, when not to tap, and most importantly, how many times to tap. The premise is simple and it involves a tiny brown creature with prodigiously big eyes that just so happens to have a propeller beanie placed on his head. He sores through the clouds in a zig-zag fashion, and as the player, you have to tap the screen to keep this cute little creature away from the borders of the screen as well as the numerous swinging hammers. Tap too fast and you will lose control of the little fella. Tap too slow and you will not be able to recover in time.
There is definitely a bit of strategy involved, and similar to Flappy Bird, it can become quite frustrating if you take it too seriously and forget that the whole idea is to have fun. Actually, this is the word I would use to describe Swing Copters: fun. There is something inherently fun about this, and it is definitely the perfect way to tap all of your worriers away. :)

Viber Out

Viber is an app that lets users send unlimited messages and pics over wi-fi or mobile networks. What separates it from other similar apps is the ability to call local and international non-Viber numbers using pre-paid credit. For someone like me who rarely makes phone calls or for someone who does not want to be tied down to a provider, Viber Out is a really neat idea, especially since credit can be purchased just like any other in-app content using your payment information.
Phone calls are taxed by the minute and vary depending on the country your calling, but a handy list shows you just how much everything costs.
All in all, this is something to consider if you are a poor student who barely has any cash for video games or someone who only makes brief calls.

Monument Valley

Monument Valley is a surreal experience that I wish it never ended. But I also believe that this is what makes it so special. Unlike traditional games, where the sole objective is to do the same thing over and over ad nauseam, Monument Valley exists as a way to immerse the player in a pulchritudinous world replete with secrets. It wants to amaze you, not waste your precious time. While it is technically a puzzle game, I never thought of it as one. I was simply interacting with the environment, not to solve a puzzle, but to unravel a mystery.
Monument Valley is more than just a game or an app; it is a fascinating journey that everyone should undertake.

Monument Valley is currently available for download on the Google Play Store.
