The Longest Journey stands as one of the greatest games ever made. It single-handedly rejuvenated the point&click adventure genre. It reminded players that games can also be quite cerebral at times. With an amazing story worth telling your grandchildren and some of the most memorable characters this side of the Universe, The Longest Journey is a game for the ages. It is truly a contender for best video game ever.
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey continued the events from the original game while also introducing new characters each with their own set of problems. It was not as good as the first game, mainly in part due to an awkward interface that favoured console players, but it did the job.
Unfortunately, the game ends with a major cliffhanger and no resolve at all.
Fortunately, series creator Ragnar Tørnquist has just announced that Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey will bring a much needed closure.
The game is presumably being developed for the PC by the newly formed Red Thread Games. The studio was founded by Ragnar Tørnquist with the help of the Norwegian Film Institute.
A release date has not been given. Expect more info as the game enters full production.
